Higher Kinnerton Walking Group – September 2019
This is a great time of the year for walking with the fantastic colours. Last month we had some excellent walks around the village including one where damsons were picked and three hours later were two jars of damson jam. The out of the Village walk was 3.7 miles around the canal basin in Chester and then down to the river for a beer in the Boat House.
On 3rd October we are heading to Erddig Hall which was built in 1684 on the outskirts of Wrexham for a 4 mile walk through the country park which owes much to the landscape gardener William Eames who was heavily influenced by the landscape architect Capability Brown. What was once a flood plain is now glorious parkland with mature trees, wild flowers and water features. Farm animals graze here, and wild fowl and migrating birds stop off on their travels.
