Indoor Bowls Club News

January 2022.

Indoor bowls started in the village back in the mid 80s and has done very well over the years. We are a social group with a team in the League.

We register with the Wrexham & District Short Mat Bowling Association, playing between September and March. There are 8 teams who play in this League on a Tuesday afternoons from 13:00.At the end of the season the League holds a lunch and presentation event. Currently we are in 7th position (we have been better!). We play 9 games of Pairs, 9 ends per game. Our best result has been 5 winds in one match. In addition, the District Short Mat Association do run competitions throughout the season which you can enter.

The Club holds a Members Night on a Wednesday evening from September to March, from 18:00 to 21:00, which consists of playing pairs on 2 mats. We do also have a third mat which we can put down but the floor is not level so you may have a very frustrating game! During the season we hold internal competitions, both singles and pairs. Depending on numbers on the night you can expect 2 or 3 games with different partners.

The only stipulation is that you wear flat shoes, we can provide the bowls. If you join we have a membership fee of £5 and you pay £2 on the night to play. There is a break during the evening where you can have a drink with biscuits or cake, for free.

If you are interested then please come along for a night and have a go. Contact Geoff Haffenden on 01244 660721, or email
