Carols on your doorstep

Carols on your doorstep

This is a one-off event happening on Sunday 20th December 2020.

Start time: 5:00 pm

Carols on our doorsteps this Sunday at 5pm!

Sadly there will be no Carol service this year due to Covid-19 restrictions. Instead, the Church bell will ring at 5pm on Sunday and everyone is invited to stand on their doorsteps and sing three simple Christmas Carols: ‘Away in a Manger’, ‘Silent Night’ and ‘It was on a starry night’.
Please do NOT come to church on Sunday evening, just sing from your doorstep or garden.

For the song lyrics, please see below:

Christmas Carol Song Sheet

Away in a manger
No crib for his bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down his sweet head
The stars in the sky
Looking down where he lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing
The poor baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying he makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle
Till morning is nigh

Be near me, Lord Jesus
I ask Thee to stay
Close by me for ever
And love me, I pray
Bless all the dear children
In Thy tender care
And fit us for Heaven
To live with Thee there

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia
Christ the Savior is born
Christ the Savior is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth.

It was on a starry night
When the hills were bright
Earth lay sleeping, sleeping calm and still
Then in a cattle shed
In a manger bed
A boy was born, King of all the world

Chorus

And all the angels sang for Him
The bells of heaven rang for Him
For a boy was born, King of all the world
And all the angels sang for Him
The bells of heaven rang for Him
For a boy was born, King of all the world

Soon the shepherds came that way
Where the baby lay
And were kneeling, kneeling by His side
And their hearts believed again
For the peace of men
For a boy was born, King of all the world
